Travel guide to FRANKFURT Frankfurt am Main is the largest city in the fifth-largest city in Germany. Situated on the Main river, it is the seat of the European Central Bank, the Frankfurt Stock Exchange and is the largest financial centre in Germany and continental Europe. Frankfurt is also home to many cultural and educational institutions, many museums, and a large botanical garden, the Palmengarten. The best-known museums are das Städelsche Kunstinstitut and the Senckenberg Natural History Museum. Others include the Museum for Modern Art, the Schirn Art Gallery, museums for architecture, movies, communications and the Jewish Museum.
